The word reject in the Greek is “Atheteo” and it means to do away with, to set aside, disregard, to thwart the efficacy of anything, nullify, make void, frustrate, to reject, to refuse, to slight.
The prophet Isaiah in this passage is describing how the coming Messiah would be treated of men especially those of his own nation. You can read the account of Jesus in the Gospels and how He was essentially crucified by the Jews because in their ignorance, they rejected Him. As you read about Jesus, you will find that He never allowed the rejection of men, as painful as it was, to hinder Him from accomplishing the will of the Father here on earth. Jesus continued in the spirit of accomplishment. Jesus remained focused on His ultimate purpose which was to redeem man.
1. God has compassion on the rejected.
In Genesis 29 it says that God saw that Leah was rejected and opened up her womb. Meaning that he gave Leah capacity to bring forth a harvest that Rachel was unable to produce. However, eventually, in His loving kindness He also gave Rachel capacity to bring forth Joseph and Benjamin.
2. Your place of rejection can also be your place of blessing.
3. Being rejected does not mean that God does not love you.
It is undesirably true that rejection can be painful. It is apparent human nature to want people to like you. However, the truth is that not everyone will like you. I can only imagine how Jesus must have felt to have His own people reject Him. I can only imagine how Leah must have felt to be in love with a man who loved someone else. Many men and women today find themselves wearing Leah’s shoes. In love with someone who is not in love with them. If someone is not in love with you, move on.
Key Steps to Overcoming the Spirit of Rejection:
1.) Understand your Purpose in God
2.) Relationships: If Someone is Not in Love with You – Move on!
3.) Disconnect from People who do not Value You
4.) Ask God for the Spirit of Discernment
5.) Stay in God’s Presence until you are Completely Free
