Queen Esther gave specific instructions in the above scripture to fast for three days before she was going to try to make an appeal to the King. When we fast we bring our flesh and its natural desires under subjection to either make a special plea unto the Lord or to honor Him through our sacrifice. It is a time of consecration which is supposed to draw us closer to our King - God.
It is during those times of fasting that we will be able to enter into the Throne Room of the King of Kings. Esther understood the importance of fasting in order to get her plea through to the king. She knew she could not just enter in to the Throne Room on her own strength because surely her plea would have been denied. This lets us know we cannot enter into the Holy of Holies any kind of way. That is why it is necessary for us to submit ourselves unto Him through prayer and fasting.
Maybe you have been wondering why your pleas and requests to God have yet to be answered or honored. That means it is time to take a different approach. You need to consecrate yourself to the Lord in a deeper way through fasting. I guarantee you; you will be able to get God’s attention that way. Some things you can only get through by praying and fasting. (See Matthew 17:2--21)
Today I encourage you to prepare yourself to go before the King!
