The wise men would have never found their way to Jesus if it had not been for the star that went before them. It was their guide; it is what ordered their steps. They had enough wisdom to know that as long as they followed the star they would reach their destination. They did not deviate from the path in which the star lead them. Otherwise, they would have never had their encounter with the King of Kings.
We may not have a star that appears before us visible to the physical eye to provide direction to us, however the Holy Spirit is ever present to lead us into the presence of God. He is to our heart like a bright and shining star willing and ready to lead us in the way we should go. Sadly, we close our hearts too often and are unable to see and discern the path we should take. We strive away from the road God is leading us on and end up in places that are uncomfortable, come with trouble and far away from God’s presence. When this happens people often begin to wonder why they never have a personal encounter with Jesus; why they cannot see Him or feel His presence. Although God may hide His face from us for a season, we more often departed from His presence and assume it is God who has left us.
I want to encourage you to remove anything from your heart, even self, so you can discern the Holy Spirit fully who is trying to guide you just like the bright and shining star lead the wise men. Following the way He is trying to show you will surely lead you in the presence of Christ and you too will be able to have an encounter with the King of Kings that will leave your life forever changed.
