Did you ever hear of the expression, "My past is haunting me"? Often times we are being haunted or followed by the things of the past. It can be bad and traumatic experiences, things that we have done and are not proud of, people that have hurt us or who we have once had a relationship with, etc. Although all of that is in the past, the past has a way of effecting us in the now and robbing us of our present peace.
This can happen by ways of guilt, pain, grief or pain over an experience in the past. To make matters worse, the enemy is a master at trying to use our past against us. One of the least things he wants to see is us having God's peace in our lives which surpasses all understanding.
How do we conquer the things of the past that keep us from peace today?
1) By asking God for forgiveness for the things we feel guilty for. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness". 1 John 1:9
2) Walk in the assurance that we are forgiven and ask God to free us from the feeling of guilt.
3) Cut ties with people from our past that keep disturbing our present peace.
God wants you to live in His peace. He has already forgiven you, and He wants you to forgive yourself, and live in the peace and blessings He has for you.
DON'T LET YOUR PAST KEEP YOU AWAY FROM PEACE!
PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for your peace. I am asking you right now to remove every seed and root of my past that is keeping me from experiencing the peace you came to give me. I will no longer be bound by my past, but embrace the freedom that is available to me through your Son Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!
