He said surely, that means undoubtedly, certainly, definitely, come what may and without fail, goodness and mercy shall follow you ALL the days of your life. He didn’t say, “Maybe goodness and mercy shall follow me some of the days of my life!” No, His goodness towards you is sure, certain and guaranteed. His mercy is there to be received every single day of your life. As a matter of fact, He said that His mercies are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23
If His mercies are new every morning, that means in practical terms, every night a second after 12:00 AM God pours out a fresh bucket of new mercies upon you.
Why? Certainly not because of any great thing you have done. Not because you have been such a faithful and loyal servant. The only reason God’s goodness and mercy is on your life today is because of your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The only thing that hinders you from receiving the sure goodness and mercy of God every day is your faith. According to your faith let it be to you Matthew 9:29 (KJV)
God has put the ball in your court, He is ready and waiting to manifest His goodness towards you, but He can only do it if you believe.
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He [was] wounded for our transgressions, [He was] bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace [was] upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (AMP)
Just as surely as Jesus bore your sin, sickness and pain on the cross, so also God’s goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. No question! No doubt!
