When Sodom and Gomorrah increased in wickedness God condemned them to ruin but then Lot was in there. Now God shared the information about Sodom’s destruction with Abraham and he interceded (Genesis 18) for anyone righteous in the city so that the city could be spared and there was only one who remained righteous, Lot. The Bible says “…condemned to ruin and extinction the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to ashes [and thus] set them forth as an example to those who would be ungodly; And He rescued righteous Lot, greatly worn out and distressed by the wanton ways of the ungodly and lawless— For that just man, living [there] among them, tortured his righteous soul every day with what he saw and heard of [their] unlawful and wicked deeds”. For us who believe in Jesus our Savior we have been made the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21) and as the world around us deteriorates spiritually, morally, socially, it vexes our souls and makes us sorrowful regarding situations around us. Yet our God is a God who rescued Noah during his times of moral degradation and also rescued Lot when the city he lived in was utterly wicked. With all the evil things going on around us, take heart dear believer in Jesus Christ and remember Noah and Lot “Now if [all these things are true, then be sure] the Lord knows how to rescue the godly out of temptations and trials…”. 2. Peter 2:9 (AMP)
